DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 – Vientiane Arrival

Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by your local private guide.  From here you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening you will then have free time at leisure to explore the night market where you can purchase local products as souvenirs and explore the night life in the city.

Day 2 – Vientiane City Tour & Buddha Park

  • Your guide will meet you at your hotel for this one-day tour around Vientiane. 

  • The first stop is the local fresh morning market.  This is a traditional market selling fresh meat and produce and where you can witness locals going about their daily shopping.

  • From the Morning Market visit COPE Centre, a small museum and charity for the victims of the bombings in Laos.

  • Next visit That Luang Stupa, which was built in circa 236 BC to keep the relic of Buddha. This is the main worship site for Buddhist people and now it is a National Lao symbol.  From here we then take a short drive to Patuxay (the Victory Gate Monument) which was given by the French to Lao Government when we had the first independence in 1946 AD. Resembling the famous Arc De Triomphe in Paris this is now the landmark of Vientiane.

  • Continue on to Wat Sisaket, with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues, as well as Vat Hor Pha Keo - the Emerald Buddha temple was built in 16th century now it is a Buddhist artifacts Museum.

  • After lunch (not included) transfer by private mini-van and drive about 1 hour south outside Vientiane which is the main area for industry.  Along route you will see the Beer Lao factory where our local beer is brewed before passing the first Lao - Thai friendship Bridge which is funded by the Australians.  Make a stop at Ban Nong Bouthong, a local weaving village before reaching the Buddha Park which is the opportunity to learn about the two religions between Hinduism and Buddhism. After spending time exploring around here we then drive back to your hotel in Vientiane.

Day 3 – Vientiane – Ban Khan Salt Village – Nam Ngum Lake & Vang Vieng

  • Departing Vientiane and drive approximately 90km (approximately 3-hour drive) north of Vientiane by Private Mini Van to Nam Ngum Lake.  Along the way stopping at Ban Khan, a town famous for its salt extraction plants, visit Vang Xang and enjoy lunch (not included).

  • The Nam Ngum Dam is a hydro electrical dam on the Nam Ngum river, a major tributary of the Mekong in Laos.  It was the first hydropower dam built in Lao PDR.  Once you reach the Nam Ngum Lake take a 1-hour cruise by long-tail boat on the massive artificial lake with many small islands. 

  • Continue on to Vang Vieng on route stopping at Ban Houeimo a traditional fish market village.  Upon arrival in Vang Vieng the remainder of the day is free for you to relax on the scenic banks of the Song River or explore the lovely town before dinner (not included)

Day 4 – Vang Vieng Tham Chang Cave & Blue Lagoon

  • After breakfast visit Tham Chang Cave which was used as a war shelter when the Chinese invaded in 1887.  At the bottom of the track to the cave is the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful pool with crystal clear water.  Upon return to Vang Vieng you may wish to take a private boat on the Nam Song River, if so, you can do so at your own leisure.

  • The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 5 - Vientiane - Departure​

  • Today depart Vang Vieng for your return journey to Vientiane.  Upon arrival in Vientiane transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
