DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1 – Vientiane Arrival
Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by your local private guide. From here you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening you will then have free time at leisure to explore the night market where you can purchase local products as souvenirs and explore the night life in the city.

Day 2 – Vientiane Local Market & Religious Activities

Your guide will meet you at your hotel and begin your day early with a visit to a lively local fresh market where you can observe the rhythm of daily life and explore a colourful array of seasonal produce and regional specialities. Return to your hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast you will visit the Lao People's Army History Museum. Explore the country's military past at this museum featuring historical photographs, military equipment and documents that highlight the development and key milestones of the Lao People's Army.

Lunch (not included)

After lunch learn about the tradition of Mak Beng, small decorative towers made from banana leaves and flowers. These offerings, symbolizing purity and prosperity and ussed in various Lao Buddhist ceremonies such as weddings, festivals and spiritual rituals.

End the day with an evening chanting session led by local monks. This peaceful, meditative experience offers a quiet moment of reflection and connection with Lao spiritual culture.

Day 3 – Vientiane – Lao Art Museum & Nam Ngum Lake

After breakfast depart Vientiane for a full day excursion to the scenic Nam Ngum Dam area. Your first stop will be the Lao Art Museum and important cultural institution dedicated to preserving and celebrating Laos' rich artistic heritage. The museum features a fascinating collection of traditional wood carvings, religious art and contemporary works by Lao artists, offering insight into the country's evolving creative landscape.

Continue the journey to Nam Ngum Village, a charming riverside community renowned for its signature delicacy - Lao milky sticky rice steamed in bamboo tubes. This local treat reflects both the culinary ingenuity and agricultural traditions of the region.

Proceed to Man Ngum Dam, a key hydroelectric project on the Nam Ngum River - a major tributary of the Mekong. The dam has created a vast reservoir spanning approximately 170 square kilometres, dotted with small islands and serene natural scenery.

Enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the Nam Ngum Reservoir, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere and discovering the beauty of the still waters.

In the afternoon return to Vientiane and transfer back to your hotel.

Day 4 – Vientiane Craft Activity

After breakfast spend an immersive day discovering the beauty of Lao textile traditions through a hands on silk dyeing and weaving experience.

Begin your journey with a fascinating introduction to silkworm and the different types of silk used in traditional Lao fabrics. Then, roll up your sleaves as you learn how to prepare natural dyes from local plants, roots and flowers. You'll create your own unique colour blends and hand-dye a silk scarf to keep as a personal souvenir.

After a break, you'll be guided to your own traditional loom, where a local expert and a skilled weaver will teach you the art of Lao weaving. Learn to create patterns using age-old techniques passed down through generations.

By the end of the day, you'll not only have a deeper appreciation for Lao craftsmanship, you'll also leave with your handmade scarf and woven piece as a meaningful reminder of your cultural experience.

Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 5 - Vientiane - Departure​

Today depart Vientiane for your onward journey - transfer to the airport.
