DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 - Luang Prabang Arrival

You will be met at the airport by your local Private Guide.  From here you will be transferred by private air conditioned vehicle to your chosen hotel.   The remainder of the day is at leisure. 

 

This evening you may wish to take the opportunity to explore the Night Market and walk along the Mekong river at your leisure.

Day 2 - Luang Prabang City Tour, Baci Ceremony & Sunset Dinner Cruise

You will be met at the lobby of your chosen hotel.  From here we will begin your tour by private air conditioned vehicle driving to the viewpoint of the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan River.

Walking along the peninsular you will have the opportunity to take photographs of this beautiful landscape. From here we walk through Wat Xieng Thong temple which is one of the most beautiful in Laos.

​

Upon leaving Wat Xieng Thong we will take a walk through the streets of Luang Prabang observing the historical architecture of French colonial buildings and local life before paying a visit to the National Museum, the Former Royal palace which was built 1904-1909 by the French Architect and was gift from the French to our last king of Laos.

Upon reaching the main street we will climb up to the top of Mt. Phousi for a 360 degree view of the city.

​

In the afternoon take part in a Traditional Baci Ceremony. The Baci Ceremony is a hindu tradition which came to Laos in the 14th century. These ceremonies are common to Laos. Their purpose is to call back your own souls to your body because they sometimes escape.  There are 32 souls in the body. This is very important to do it before or during major life events such as weddings, births, travels, welcoming of friends, the return of someone to the family.

Later you will be transferred by private air conditioned vehicle to the boat pier where your dinner cruise awaits. (join in)

Cruise along the Mekong River and enjoy a locally prepared set dinner followed by Traditional Lao Dance entertainment.

​

Upon return to the boat pier your private guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel.

Day 3 - Luang Prabang Full Day Elephant Experience with Trekking

You will be met at the lobby of your chosen hotel.  From here we will transfer to the elephant village by private air conditioned vehicle.

Upon arrival you will receive a short introduction about these majestic animals (join in).

· Elephant feeding - Get up close and personal with elephants.

· Explore the elephant village: Visit the elephant hospital, museum, photo gallery and dung paper making area.

· Bareback elephant ride: Mount an elephant and enjoy a 1km bareback elephant ride - riding on the neck of the elephant(join in, one person per elephant)

· Visit baby elephants: meet the baby elephant across the river

· Lunch: Dine in the forest surroundings with a picnic box lunch (vegetarian option available)

· Trail of Falls: Enjoy a 3km trek on foot of the 'Trail of Falls' which follows a beautiful stream leading up to Tad Sae Waterfall.

· Tad Sae Waterfall: Arrive at Tad Sae Waterfall and relax, dip your feet or take a swim in the clear, cool water

· Cruise back to the elephant village 

· Private transfer back to your hotel.

Day 4 - Luang Prabang - Nong Khiaw

​Drive from Luang Prabang to visit Pak -Ou cave.  Explore the sanctuaries of Pak-Ou and witness the intriguing sight of over 4,000 Buddha images.  From Pak-Ou Cave drive to Nong Khiaw on the way making a stop at Ban Nayang Tai – a village of Tai Lue people who produce cotton, dye and spin it into beautiful fabrics. Visit two other surrounding villages of different ethnic groups before arriving in Nong Khiaw late afternoon.

Day 5 - Nong Khiaw - Trekking to 3 Minority Villages

Departing from your hotel for a full day trek through the mountain and countryside to visit the villages of three ethnic groups.  Begin with 15 minute boat ride along the picturesque Nam Ou river, passing through scenic landscapes and limestone Karst mountains to the Lao Loum ( Lowlander Lao ) village of Ban Sopkhan. The Lao loum are the numerically, politically, and economically dominate ethnic group, comprising just over 65 percent of the total Lao population. Explore the village for insight into the local life and people.

 

Continue to walk for 2 hours through rice fields to the Hmong village of Ban Pha Yoong and the Khmu village of Ban Tad Lene. Notice how most of the agriculture work is done communally, including the planting of rice, corn, bananas, and sugar cane. Enjoy a wonderful picnic lunch in the village before returning to Muang Ngoi then transfer back to Nong Khiaw.

Day 6 - Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang - Departure

Departing from Nong Khiaw enjoy a cruise from Nong Khiaw to Luang Prabang on the way stop at a local Khmu village to observe the unique way of life.  Continue to cruise down stream to the dam where your private mini van awaits to transfer you to Luang Prabang airport for your flight to your next destination.
