LOW SEASON (MAY-SEPT) - PAK-OU CAVE & KUANG SI WATERFALL 

Witness the multitude of Buddhist statues at Pak-Ou Cave on the Mekong River.  Take a tour boat ride to soak up some of the natural beauty and local culture that revolves around the river before continuing  to discover the picturesque Kuang-Si-Waterfalls.  Enjoy a short hike in the National Park before arriving at the falls.

Witness the multitude of Buddhist statues at Pak-Ou Cave on the Mekong River.  Take a tour boat ride to soak up some of the natural beauty and local culture that revolves around the river before continuing  to discover the picturesque Kuang-Si-Waterfalls.  Enjoy a short hike in the National Park before arriving at the falls.

DETAILED ITINERARY:
  • You will be met by your local private tour guide where you will be transferred by private air conditioned vehicle to the boat pier where the cruise awaits.

  • Once a sail the boat first makes a stop to explore Ban Xang Hai also known as the 'whiskey village' to see the process of making lao-lao, the country's beloved rice whiskey second only to Beer Lao in popularity.  Here you will be given a full demonstration of the traditional distillation methods.

  • Continue by boat to the sactuaries of Pak-Ou Cave and witness the intriguing sight of over 4,000 Buddha images.

  • Enjoy lunch on board the boat in front of Pak Ou Cave

  • Cruise back to Luang Prabang on the Mekong River and observe the picturesque limestone formations and local way of life along the river.

  • Cucumber soup stuffed pork

  • River weed & Luang Prabang Pork sausage

  • Traditional Mekong River fish mousse in banana leaf

  • Fried eggplant mixed vegetables in oyster sauce

  • Chicken curry

  • Fried chicken in herbs (pandan leaf)

  • Steamed rice and sticky rice

  • Assorted fresh sliced seasonal fruits

  • Lao coffee and local green tea

  • Later you will be transferred by private air conditioned vehicle to Kuang Si Waterfall.  Upon arrival we will take a leisurely hike through the National Park towards Kuang Si Waterfall.  On the way pass by the Asian Bear Rescue Centre.  Enjoy feeling the mist of the cool, turquoise water of the different waterfalls.  Hike to the top of the main waterfall from where you can enjoy the panoramic views.

  • Return to the pools at the bottom of the falls where you can enjoy a refreshing swim should you wish.

  • The day ends upon your return to your hotel.  The remainder of the day is at leisure.

  • River cruise will be a join in cruise, so there will be other guests on board

  • You will be accompanied by your own English speaking guide to highlight points of interest along the cruise

  • Kuang Si Waterfalls can get crowded during weekends therefore it is advised to visit during weekdays where possible.  

  • Swimming at Kuang Si Waterfall is possible

  • It is recommended to wear proper walking attire.
