Witness the multitude of Buddhist statues at Pak-Ou Cave on the Mekong River.  Take a tour boat ride to soak up some of the natural beauty and local culture that revolves around the river and observe traditional fishing techniques still used by local fisherman.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

• You will be met at the lobby of your chosen hotel and transfer by private vehicle to a boat pier in Luang Prabang where your boat departs.

• Take a private boat first stopping to explore Ban Xang Hai also known as the 'whiskey village' to see the process of making lao-lao, the country's beloved rice whiskey second only to Beer Lao in popularity.  Here you will be given a full demonstration of the traditional distillation methods.

• Observe the traditional fishing techniques by local fishermen using only local equipment - cast net "Hae" - a traditional net which opens in a circle when landing on water and grill net "Mong" a technique of casting the net onto the water then boarding a boat and hitting the water with bamboo sticks to chase the fish into the net.

• Continue by boat to the sactuaries of Pak-Ou Cave and witness the intriguing sight of over 4,000 Buddha images.

• Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant (not included)

• Cruise back to Luang Prabang on the Mekong River and observe the picturesque limestone formations and local way of life along the river.  Alternatively a transfer by private vehicle can be arranged if preferred.

• Transfer back to your hotel.
